Chrysoprase is a translucent chalcedony that ranges from yellowish-green to green in hue. Nickel traces are usually the cause of its green color. After gem silica, beautiful green chrysoprase is the second most precious chalcedony variation. "Chrysoprase" is derived from the Greek terms "golden apple" or "golden leek." Beads and cabochons are the most common uses today. Exceptional chrysoprase chunks are occasionally carved into translucent faceted stones.
