SURVEY REFLECTS SATISFACTION WITH IIJS 2006 :
A majority of visitors and exhibitors expressed satisfaction with IIJS 2006, held May 3-7, in Mumbai. This was reflected in the findings of a survey commissioned by The Gem and Jewelry Export Promotion Council the organizers of the show. IIJS 2006 is the largest trade fair in Indiaaand the second largest in Asia, attracting exhibitors and visitors from across the globe. Wholesale Dichroic Glass Jewellery

The 2006 show featured 640 exhibitors and attracted around 17000 trade visitors. Wholesale gemstone pendents by weight
Nearly half the Indian visitors interviewed stated that IIJS met their business expectations. This went up to 64 per cent for foreign visitors. Their satisfaction was due mainly to the quality of exhibitors. Other aspects they appreciated were the hall facilities and venue. The visitors revealed that on average they stopped by 15 stalls in each section they visited. While a significant number (38 per cent) did not specify the business they transacted at the show, 48 per cent reported purchase they transacted at the show, 48 per cent reported purchase / sale / order supply transaction.

The Gold Jewelry section attracted the most interest, with 80 per cent of respondents visiting exhibitors in this category. Next in popularing were Loose Diamonds and Machinery at 70 per cent and 60 per cent respectively.
Among exhibitors, 70 per cent expressed overall satisfaction with IIJS 2006. The highest rating came from the Machinery section - 75 per cent. Most exhibitors recorded over 100 visitors to their stall and the majority received more than 15 useful business inquiries on average.
However, exhibitors appeared disappointed with actual business results as only 30 per cent were satisfied. Their perception was that previous IIJS shows produced better results.Wholesale Labradorite Jewellery

The survey also revealed current perceptions on branded jewellery, which has made significant strides since the concept took hold in the Indian market less than three years ago. While 43 per cent of exhibitors felt that branded jewellery was preferred by consumers, this preference was indicated by 48 per cent of the trade visitors. A premium of 5-10 per cent on branded products was found acceptable under these circumstances.

The IIJS 2006 survey was conducted among 929 visitors and 385 exhibitors by the BIRD arm of IMRB international.
