Basic Coding System:

The ICA 1997 Congress in Brazil unanimously formulated a Simplified Coding Sys­tem for the disclosure of colored gemstone enhancements and treatments. A simplified coding system resulted in just three letters: N.E.T. described as follows:

N - Not Enhanced

This step prevents the resin from evaporating from the stones, thus making the clarity enhancement more permanent than oiling or waxing the gem.
